I "HAD" 2 computers. One with XP Pro (I loved for our business) and the
other XP Home ( for personal use) installed. My favorite PC with XP Pro
had a hard drive crash and burn, now I'm down to one PC. I would like
to install the upgrade XP Pro on the computer that has XP Home.

Am I correct in understanding after purchasing that expensive program,
I'm unable to install XP Pro on my 2nd computer since the one I had it
installed on died? (I will not be salvaging it.)

Please don't send me a link that gives me 20 pages of legal
gobble-de-gook. I just need to know, yes or no. Trash pick up is
Friday...If this expensive program is no good to me now, I'll throw it
away and remember this expensive lesson of figuring out how long your
hard drive will outlive the Windows program you're running. eh?

Thanks!

No, you are not correct. Yes, you can install it on a new computer. Since
yours is an Upgrade, it's a retail version, and retail versions may be moved
as desired to a new computer. The only restriction is that it may not be
installed on two computers at once.

If yours were an OEM version, however, the terms of the license would
prevent your moving it to another computer.
