Redundant email addresses in "From" field

When I send an email, the person who receives it gets 3 things in the "From" field: My name, My email address in "[ ]"s, and my email address again in "< >".
There must be a way to eliminate one of the email addresses, but I can't find a setting. Can anyone help?

have you checked the contact properties?
There is an option called "show as.."
