Reducing app indicator in task bar?

With 6-8 apps running, my taskbar gets crowded. I have started
using True Launch Bar (good!), but its great plug-ins use up
taskbar space.

Is there a Vista tweak or a utility that will permit reduction
of App Indicators to icon-only.

Was it you that asked a few days ago about truelaunch?

why dont you make your taskbar 2 lines tall?
thats what I usally do...
also you can do other tricks with true launch bar,
for example you can have 1 icon on the quicklaunch that opens a menu for
selections, (see example screenshot
http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/1584/screenshot1is1.jpg )
or you can have a similar pop up and place your various "plugins" there

once you get a hang of true launch you will see that it is a tool to enhance
productivity... not only an "eyecandy"

and yes there is a way to reduce the size of the taskbar buttons...

a program that has a tweak to this is called x-setup pro (shareware)

I dont know if there are others...

here is the info from the X-setup program plugin

f you have many open programs, they may clutter your taskbar too much. With
this plug-in, you can reduce the size each entry needs inside the taskbar.

Just enter the size, how big the items in your taskbar should be. A good
value is "-285" which works for most computers and only shows the icons of
the running programs (no text) but depending on your computer, you might
even need to decrease this value (e.g. "-1000"). You must restart Windows
for this change to take effect.

Generally, you should adjust this value to match your Taskbar size (trial
and error may be necessary):

Taskbar size in pixel: 17 This value: -270

Taskbar size in pixel: 18 This value: -285

Taskbar size in pixel: 19 This value: -300

Taskbar size in pixel: 20 This value: -315

Taskbar size in pixel: 21 This value: -335

The Taskbar size can be changed from: Control Panel -> Display ->
Appearance -> Item: -> Active Title Bar -> push the up or down arrows and
peek at the Size: box until it looks to your liking -> click OK.

To restore the original size, just clear the field.

I like TrueLaunch a lot. On my 22" office screen 2 lines would
be fine, but that costs me too much screen on my small laptop.
I'd rather shrink the apps to just icons, so will try the other
approach.

Thanks!
