Redirecting print jobs

W

Wayne

I'm running Windows 3.51 as a virtual server on a Windows XP
workstation. A program on the virtual server sends print jobs (simple
text) to a shared printer on the the XP machine.

I want the XP machine to hold the print job and pop up an alert,
letting the user decide where to send the print job. I would prefer to
have the job sent to the printer, sent to Outlook as an attachment, or
sent to a file. All of this has to happen onn the XP side, as the user
has no acccess to a gui or control panel on the virtual server.

Is there a way of doing this or is there a product out there that will
let me do this?

you may want to have a look at Printfil.

I tried it. Too complicated for my users.

I want something simpler. When a job starts to spool I want a window to
pop up asking the user to print it (maybe with the option of which
printer, but I don't need that capability), save it to a file, or email
it. I would prefer the pop-up to come up on the host side of the
virtual server, since the virtual server application is in DOS.

Thanks
