red X where picture should be

sometimes I see a little red X in a little box where a picture should be. I
am dumbfounded on how to fix this.

Change the picture file to a jpg instead of a bmp.

I don't understand. This is when I am viewing a file in either outlook
express or internet explorer. How can I change the file? Also, When I
click on the box where the picture should be, It showes up a a .jpg.

Do you have "supertricks" installed? Perhaps when you installed Kazaa Lite? If so then your hosts file has entries in it to block ads, which would also block pictures. Check your hosts file

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

The only entry in that file is:

127.0.0.1 localhost
