Red X Placeholders instead of pictures

I'm trying to print pages off of 2 specific websites. The text prints ok,
but the pictures don't. I get the blank box with the red X instead. It also
shows this way in Print Preview.

This ONLY happens on these two websites (which are run off of the same
server). Running XP on this 'puter.

On my old 'puter, I have 98SE. Same websites, Print Preview shows the pics
and the pages print with no problem.

Hi CC,
On the IE Page click Tools >> Internet Options >> Clcik on Advanced Tab and
scroll down to the Option;
[#] Printing
[ ] Print background colors and images Check this check box

Click Ok to confirm your changes and close the IE Properties and Hit F5 to
refresh.
Close the Page and try open the website and do your print.
By the way do you have this RedX on the page of the website or just the
print preview?.
Thank you.
Please let us know.

nass

Hi Nass,

thanks for the response. I had already tried that but gave it a go again.
Still the same thing.

The Red X doesn't show up on the webpage. Pics and text are normal. Only
in Print Preview and the printout itself is there the dreaded red X.

The odd thing is that the problem only exists on those two websites. I was
wondering if it could be a firewall (which I know very little about),
security or McAfee problem.

Hi CC,
Try to disable Add-Ons for McAfee AntiFishing Filter from Programs Tab
click on Manage Add-Ons and Disable the Macfee Antifishing filter there, also
other said disabling Mcafee Privacy service can solve the problem, if it did
then try to enable it agin after printing.
HTH.

Tried disabling several add-ons, that didn't work, but I think I've got it
narrowed down to a browser problem. If I use Verizon/Yahoo or a direct
shortcut to IE, I have the Red X problem. But I downloaded Firefox, went
into one of the sites in question and VOILA! Using Firefox, the dreaded red
x's are gone in Print Preview and the page printed just fine - with pics.

It doesn't solve the original browser problem, but at least I have an option
that will work.

Thanks so much for responding Nass. I was ready to just give up, but you
kept me at least looking for an answer. If I ever figure out why IE is
blocking the images, I'll let y'all know.

CCJD,
A couple of wks I had a similar problem. Mine was just viewing. I wasn't
trying to print.
It turned out for some odd reason to be a Vz prob.
With tips from nass I looked at the properties of the pics. themselves. If I
rem. right what wasn't showing
were gif's the jpegs displayed fine. Vz had no ans. so I even looked at the
same page on my pc at wk.
Doing that ruled out anysort of cookie issue or pc setting question.
Needless to say a couple of days later Vz took the pics down and the page
has been fine since.

Hi CC,
Do you have VZ/Yahoo toolbar installed, did it installed Image Accelerator?
like Venturi, have a look around and see what Image accelerator Verizon
installed, if there is no accelerator, try to configure MCafee may it
considering these images as Pop up and blocking them.
Another try to diable or uninstall Firefox to give IE a space to think and
function then if all worked reinstall Firefox back on.
HTH.
