Red X instead of pictures

I know that this has probably been down many many times
but I am at a loss. When using IE6 in XP I cannot see
the pictures that are on the page only the little red X
in the left hand corner. I have tried many things over
the last little while and it doesn't help. The "Show all
pictures" is ticked off and when I try the right mouse
click over the picture and then "show picture" it does
help. I was even told that MacAffee is interferring with
it. Can anyone give me an answer that can help? Thanks.

Have you tried deleting TIF's yet?
