red x instead of image

when using ie some images dont appear and are replaced with white boxes with
a red x in the top corner i think it is mainly GIF images which wont load

In IE, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Multimedia section and make sure the box “Show Pictures†is
ticked.
