What's the problem when a person is emailed a picture and it only shows up as
an X in the upper left hand corner. I've always thought that it had to do
with some type of app. that's not installed on that particular computer or
the ISP didn't support whatever that picture needed to materialize. I've
never been able to figure out what the real reason is.

Anyone out there know what I'm talking about and have a possible solution to
this problem? THANX N ADVANCE. The Rookie/Wayne B.

An image is normally an attachment to the message. Try a right-click|SAVE
IMAGE, if available. Then open the file with the appropriate viewer.

If instead the image is part of a WEBpage that was mailed to you, then it is
likely that the reference to it (the link) is not valid. Thus the "X"
placeholder.

If they are using Outlook Express, ask them to check the security options.

Tools>Options>Secuity>Uncheck box under "Download Images". (this prevents
potentially harmful attatchments from being opened by novices.)

In MrCmosDriver <[email protected]> had this to say:

If none of the other responses do the trick for you and, as I suspect, the
emails are HTML then this might be handy though a bit long and drawn out:
