Red "X" in upper left corner of Encarta Maps Center Map

In MSN Learning & Research Maps Center, maps don't
display, but rather I am presented with a red 'X' in the
upper left hand corner.

I've deleted my temporary internet files and my cookies,
and reset my internet settings. Nothing seems to help.

I can view the maps in Netscape, though. Is it a Java
settings issue?

Thanks. When looking at the link you sent, I had another
question.
Can I make two assumptions? One, that because it's an
MSN site, the image would be in a format supported by
IE. Two, that because I can view the image using
Netscape as my browser, my Norton Internet Security
settings would not be the culprit.
Thanks, again!

The first assumption sounds reasonable.

I know that NIS can prevent the display of images that are called by
scripts. Have you tried with NIS turned off?

I thought I had tried this previously, but I guess not.
Disabling NIS did the trick, but I guess the question now
is why. My settings all appear to allow scripts. I
guess a question for the NIS folks, huh?
Thanks.

Thanks.

It's the popup blocking in NIS that is causing the problem.

Please guys I also have that problem with all my pages they open with this
RED X. What do I do? What is this NIS you are talking about? Thanx

NIS is Norton Internet Security.

I disabled Ad Blocking for all users on my PC, and the
Red X still comes up. Would NIS treat images differently
in IE than for Netscape?

thanks.

Found the problem!!! It is NIS, and the website setting
rules on Internet Security for any msn.com site need to
be changed to "permit" information about visited web
sites.
Thanks for the assistance.
