red ink light on epson r210

I have an epson r210 with a continuous ink system. I had a large print run,
when the red ink light came on and the software showed a cartridge needed
replacing. As my epson has CIS fitted it didnt run out of ink. The printer
has chipped carts so when I turn the printer off then back on again, it
shows the cart to be full again. I tried this and the red ink light stayed
on, I tried this numerous times and have also lifted the cart up and
replaced it firmly down making sure it is positioned properly and the red
light still stays on.

Hi,
Is the red light blinking or solid?
Are you able to go to the ink status monitor and note what the software is
indicating about the ink level in each cartridge? It's possible that one of
the chips is 'failing' partially and that's why the red light comes on. If
the light is solid and you are still able to print then my guess here is
that something has gone amiss with a cb on the printer rather than a chip on
the cartridge.
On the Epson 740 there was a button combination that could be applied to
bring the electronics back to factory specs if red lights were blaring and
the printer was printing garbage. It was called a 'master EPROM reset'. That
might be the answer if the R210 also has such a scheme.
If no one else comes up with a viable solution I'd get in touch with the
folks you purchased the CIS and they may be able to give you the right
answer.

thanks for the reply. the light is on steady, i have swapped the cyan cart
with the light cyan cart and the ink indicator is still showing a red cross
on the light cyan and the red ink light is still steady.
