Recyle bin icon

I've had this problem before; I changed desktop themes and then switched back
to XP classic. The recycle bin icon is now merely an icon indicating it's a
picture of some sort, but it isn't the trash icon. If I put something in the
trash, the icon returns to normal. When I emtpy the trash, the icon reverts
to the graphic/picture indicator type icon.

I looked online for help at Microsoft, but I am reluctant to enter the "reg
edit" of the computer.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ruth

Hi Ruth,

Right-click an empty area on the Desktop, and choose Properties
Click the Desktop tab, and click "Customize Desktop"
Select the "Recycle Bin (empty)" icon and click "Restore Default"
Click OK

If that does not help, download the ShellIconFix utility to fix the Recycle Bin icon automatically.

Thank you, Ramesh! I had to use the shell icon restore, but it worked
perfectly, quickly, and easily.

Things are back to normal.

FYI, I've articled this y'day.
