Recycle Bin

I have a computer on the network that will not send deleted item to the
Recycle Bin. I have checked the properties and the option to delete
immediately is NOT checked. Can anyone offer any suggestions about another
global setting somewhere else that may affect how the Recycle Bin operates??

Only files on the local drive deleted in the GUI, will hit the recycle
bin. If that isnt the case. Try toggling the recycle bin setting off and
back on.

Correct on the deleted files. I have toggled the setting in Properties twice,
restarting the properties box each time, to no avail. There must be a global
setting somewhere else in the XP system that is over-riding the Recycle Bin
Properties setting. I have never seen anything like this before, and I have
been working with Windows OSs since MS-DOS 1.0. I am totally stumped and M$
has nothing that covers this problem in their Knowledgebase. :-(

Do you have or have you had any Norton products on the computer?

How full is the Recycle Bin?

How large is the file you are trying to delete?

Hope this helps.

I have had bizarr behavior in the Recycle bin when using the "SUBST"
command. Items go into the bin but are not shown.

Gerry,

Either of them can cause the issue.

PS, your sig seperator removes all info following it, on readers that
observe the convention. Had to edit as new to prevent flushing the other
quotes.

Bob.

I have tried to follow the reasoning behind your suugestion. Would this
link have been more appropriate?

FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This fixed the problem perfectly. Thanks to all who
offered help.

To answer the other questions:
No Norton. (Not now, not ever, under any circumstance!)
Nothing in the RB.
Any sized file.

Again, thank you all for your assistance. I shall keep both solutions in my
Knowledgebase for future reference.
