recycle bin" restore all" function

I have recently made the leap from my 10 year old Win98SE dog to a new XP
based computer. After the transfer of all my files from my old hard drive
to my new one, I mistakenly thought that I had many duplicate files so I
sent the dupes to the recycle bin. To my horror I have discovered that they
are not dupes so I have several hundred files and folders that I need to
restore to the hard drive. It's is a massive chore to do it one-at-a-time
so I have been trying to find a way to do it with something like a "restore
all" function for the recycle bin. I haven't been able to find such a
function.

Any ideas on how to accomplish my task without going through the whole list
manually?

Open the Recycle Bin. Highlight one file and then Ctrl+A will Highlight them
all. Right click and Restore.

If you need to be selective, hold the Ctrl key and click on each file you
want restored to highlight them.

In XP as probably has been in most other versions of windows, Ctrl-a =
select all, Ctrl-v = Paste, Ctrl-c = Copy. Holding the shift key
allows selecting a range. Holding ctrl+shift allows you to select a
2nd range of files, thus allowing two non-consecutive ranges. Holding
the ctrl key allows selecting one at a time.

This feature works in most programs with lists, explorer, Word etc.
It's more prevalent in XP, and especially with well behaved/written
programs.
