Recycle Bin icon

TweakUI
(http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx)
allows you that on the Desktop menu item. You can also hide "My Computer"
and some other icons.

If that doesn't help then you may be logged in as a "Guest" or other
restricted access user account when Windows will restrict access to anything
important. Talk to the computer owner in this case and see if you can
sweetalk higher access rights.

I'm afraid it isn't so obvious. You can change the Recycle Bin icon
there but you can't restore (or hide) it.

Sole owner/user (or had better be) on this system.
Sweet talk me? Never happen. Owner has a personality that'd rival a
wolverine.

Think I discovered the problem - corrupted icon in the space screensaver.
Went back to the default and that solved the problem.

Thanks for the help.

The Recycle Bin does not appear on the desktop

I mis-stated the problem. It was the picture in the icon, not the icon
itself.
