Can someone help me please?

When I open the Recycle bin and either restore or delete items and
then close it, I frequently receive an error message saying that
windows has encountered a problem and the following message appears

‘AppName: explorer.exe'
‘AppVer:6.0.2900.2180.'
ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 026c6cfb

All the icons on the screen will disappear for a second or two and
then reappear.

Occasionally the Recycle Bin does function fine, but the problem seems
to be getting worse.

Having checked my Error logs in Event Viewer/Application I noticed
that my machine logs a VSS error when started. Upon further
investigation, it would appear that this error is due to a problem
with the COM+ infrastructure. The COM+ Event System is not started
and if manually started I receive the following message

‘Could not start the COM+ Event System Service on Local Computer
Error 126: The specified module could not be found'

I have the same problem with the System Event Notification.
If I chose to start this service, I receive the following message

‘Could not start the System Event Notification Service on Local
Computer
Error 1068 The dependency service or group failed to start'

I believe these two services should be automatically started as I have
checked 3 machines, all running xp, and all have these services
running.

Is this why I am having problems with the Recycle Bin?

Would appreciate any help?

Regards
Lawrence

This happens because the Explorer is restarted. This may come from
some software running in the background. See "How to Troubleshoot By
Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP"
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310560) and "How to Perform a
Clean Boot in Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310353).
Also, an application that is open at the same time when you recieve
the error may be the cause of the problem.
