Recurring task reminder

many times i have to defer taking an action on it. i open the item, select a
new due date, then click save/close.

a reminder instantly fires telling me it is due in X# of days. i open it
again, click the due date drop down arrow, click on the same date that i
originally defered it to (the date i deferred it to is still ion there), then
save/close, then it closes ok wihtout firing the reminder window.

THis is really annoying because it doubles what i have to do to defer the
task and i hope someone out there can help me

Most likely this is because you haven't dismissed or snoozed the reminder
yet.
