Recurring Resolution Notice

R

Ruth

Every few seconds, no matter what program I'm in or if I'm on Explorer, a
really annoying Resolution Notice pops onto the screen (obscuring what I'm
doing) telling me: For best picture quality change to 1024 x 768, which is
what the settings are at. Even though I constantly hit either 1 to Exit (on
the notice) or 2 to Disable, it ignores me and goes away in its own good time
before returning It's driving me NUTS! Please please help!

Thank you.

Use your monitor buttons to look for Resolution Notice and turn it off.

To disable the notice on ViewSonic 23" LCD Monitor , use the buttons on the
front of the montior to do the following:
* Press #1 button
* Use down arrow to highlight Setup Menu and press #2 button
* Use down arrow to highlight Resolution notice and press #2 button
* Select Disable and exit!!

To disable the notice on NEC LCD 1765 monitor
* Press button #5 on the monitor
* Scroll up and down the menu list with Montior Button #4 and then select
with Monitor Button #5. Go to "Advanced menu" set the Resolution notice to
OFF.

I have a Samsung monitor and get the message showing "Recomended 1280x1024
60hz" However the screen is completely blank and I cannot access the "system
recovery" to rectify the problem, this only happened after a Microsoft update
5 mins earlier.
My PC is now unusable can any one help please?

Reyes, thank you SO SO much. I feel like such a twit! It didn't occur to me
that the message was emanating from the monitor.
Thank you again. You made my day!

Hi, Christobelle,

Check the cables to see if they tight.

Can you boot in Safe Mode?
How to start Windows in Safe Mode

Or
Try using another monitor, if it works, adjust your monitor settings: Right
click on the Desktop > Properties > On the Display Properties Dialogue under
Screen Resolution adjust the slider to1280x1024. Click the Advanced... button
below. Click on the Monitor tab, under Monitor settings set the Screen
refresh rate to 60 Hertz. Now try the problem monitor.

Another thing to try is upgrading to the latest monitor driver:
Samsung Support Download Center
http://www.samsung.com/ph/support/download/supportDownMain.do
On the page under Option 2. click on the "monitor"
Then click on the Product Subtype and the Product Model Name of your
monitor. OK
Click the "driver tab" beside manual tab to download the driver.

Hi Rey,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have just found out that if I dont switch
the Monitor on untill the XP has fully loaded, the error message doesn't
appear ( as yet anyway).
I will try your suggestions and get back with the results, I was glas I had
the Laptop to at least communicate with you Guys. Watch this space.

Hi Rey
I have been on the Samsung Web site and although I couldn't find the exact
model of monitor I found one which matched as near as possible.
I changed the settings after downloading the new drivers to 1280 x 1024 and
this was successful.
Many thanks for your advise and help.
Chris
