Recurring Outlook tasks should regenerate

Recurring Calendar entries in Outlook seem to automatically generate new
calendar items. Tasks however, seem to only generate a new recurring task
when the prior one is marked complete. If one fails to mark the task
complete, no new task is generated or reminder set. Some people I know, work
around this by setting tasks as appointments but this causes scheduling
problems.

A good work around for recurring Tasks is to make Events, with your time
marked as Free. This prevents scheduling problems.

Do you mean a calendar entry? The problem I have with this is that my
calendar gets so cluttered with recurring tasks such as filling out my
timesheet (due to the problem cited by the OP), that I can't see at a glance
what calendar appointments I actually do have. I'd really like to be able to
use tasks, but when the reminder pops up and I hit "dismiss" instead of
opening the task, selecting the pulldown, and selecting "Completed", I lose
my recurrence. Since with calendar entries I just hit "dismiss", it's hard
to not make this mistake ... almost every day.
