Captain O

I had a virus, and I think it's done something to screw up my DNS type
stuff....
basically, MSN messenger, and windows update don't work, because I think
they're connecting to the wrong IP address.

I was wondering if there was another place like the HOSTS file that I should
look in for spurious entries?

Or is it possible for a registry entry to change the location windows looks
at for
it's hosts file?

Thankyou very much for any help you can give me!

TIA, Dan

Perform an NSLookup. This will tell you what the DNS server returns for the
hostname. You can also look in LMHosts, however this is a NetBios name
mapping file that augments WINs.
