Recovery & Restore

I just bought a laptop (secondhand) it is a Dell Inspiron e1505.

The HD is partitioned and drive D, consists only of a recovery restore
utility - Dell Factory Image Restore. The instructions are to use F8 after
boot and goto Windows Advanced Boot Options select the option "Repair My
Computer". However I do not have that option.

I can see the file on the D drive it is 4.21 GB and it is a WIM file. Is
there a way I can restore without doing so through Windows Advanced Boot
Options?

Any help would be much appreciated!

- NOTE: Dell systems that shipped with Vista preinstalled do not have a DSR
partition. Dsrfix will not repair a Vista system. -

Thanks for the advice but unfortunately it won’t work for me. The original
was Vista Home Premium.
