Recovery of Data from External Drive

My hard disk crashed, but they were able to recover virtually all of the
data. It now resides on an external drive. Is ther anything like Files and
Settings Transfer Wizzard that can be used to recover settings and documents
from a drive rather than from another computer (which is what that utility is
for)?

Thanks

I know of no such program and I can not think how one would work..and
that there would be little demand..sorry..However..

When you say "recovered virtually all data"...Do you think you could
boot into windows if the drive was (just suppose for the moment) into
the machine? If so, some motherboard BIOS will allow you to boot from an
external drive..see what I mean...then you could run the Files and
Settings transfer. Or when you say "external drive" do you mean that
your old drive has been mounted into a housing meaning that it could be
temporarily put back into your computer.

If any of the above is possible but the drive will not boot then you
could always run the Windows Repair from the CD, get a boot and run the
Transfer wizard.

Or you could explore using Norton Ghost to solve the problem - copy old
drive to new (or a temp) - windows repair if required - Transfer wizard.

This all depends how desperate you are of course.

Regards

What files were transferred to the external drive? When you say the hd
crashed, was the drive removed and replaced with a new one?
