Data Recovery Software

Hello
I had posted this on another list but did not receive any responses,
hence the 'xpoe\st'-apologies.
......................................................................
I own a small computer repair shop and have brought my needs for data
recovery to another shop.

I would like to perform this task here and have read many reviews and
product descriptions regarding the available software for this task.
I am looking to find what the best option would be from someone who
actually uses software to recover data as a lot of what I have read
seems like 'magic' and is not believable.

I have purchased one piece that just took forever and was unable to
recover any data.

Any experiences and/or software recommendations will be appreciated.
Thanks
Lou

Free or Cost? Cost one is quite expensive but it does the job. Free is either a hit
or miss. Which are you thinking about . Let us know as to which ones to post for you

Actually, the cost is not a real big factor, unless it is completely
unreasonable. I know good products cost money and are worth paying for.
There may also be some no cost products that perform well.

One other item worth mentioning at this point is the condition of the
drive one is thinking about doing a recovery on. The 'clickers', the
non-clickers, the 'spinners', the non-spinners and those that are picked
up in varying portions of Windows--Disk Manager, Device Manager, etc.

I use a USB adapter to connect the drive and that may present drawbacks
other than speed.

In the past I have swapped circuit boards from exact matches and have
seen the drive come to life--but today that is usually not possible or
at least it seems like there are just too many differing PCBs out there.

Most of my customers who need data back are home users--I have convinced
the businesses to do some serious and regular backups. Hence, we only
care about Documents and the EMail clients.

It is usually pretty difficult to convince people to do some sort of at
least a random backup..until...

Thanks for listening.
