I am trying to do a complete backup of my hard drive to an external HDD.
Want the full backup in case a fatal crash occurrs and I need to restore
fully without having to locate all the original program disks and, of course,
the data files.
Windows XP provides this utility as part of the Backup utility, and creates
a "Recover Disk" on the floppy drive. However, when I go through the steps
(choosing full backup, selecting the destination, naming the backup, etc.),
and hit enter to begin the backup, I get an error messaging saying "the files
needed for the recovery disk can not be created," and the utility stops
without backing ANYthing up. What do I need to do to enable the creation of
the Restore disk in this process?
