recovery disk won't work becuase of sp2

My computer came with service pack 1 now I have installed service pack 2 and
the recovery disk won't work! How do I get it working without removing
service pack 2

It depends on exactly what you want to do.
If you want to perform a Clean Installation, it should not matter, follow
the manufacturers instructions.

For anything else, you should also contact the manufacturer and/or check the
documentation since the different manufacturers set up their recovery CDs
differently.

If it is an OEM installation and the dealer doesn't give you an
updated CD, you may be out of luck and may have to uninstall
Service Pack 2. But all the recovery disks I have seen reformat
the disk anyway. Are you sure that what you have is a recovery
CD?

Another way out, though costly, is to buy a full retail version
of Windows XP, ideally with SP2 already included.

information, but there isn't much on OEM installations and
recovery CDs.
