My system crashed, I now get an error about
\windows\system32\config\system missing, use recovery
console.

I boot from the install CD, press "r", select "1" for
\windows (the only option), it then says I have some sort
of registry problem.

I know I have a registry problem, that is why I am trying
to use recovery console!

Can anyone help please?

Thanks,
Guy

I can't find a boot disk that allows me to change ntfs
partitions.

Also, my disk controler is not on the XP install CD. To
boot from CD and use recovery console (or install) I need
a driver disk. So, many boot disks may not support my
system. Even Linux (knopix) does not support the
Adaptec/Dell POS!

Do not buy adaptec cards from dell, they are custom or
hacked cards not supported by adaptec, and dell only
supports them for a short time. This make me hate
adaptec also! It is an adaptec card, so they should
support it.
