recovery console setup disks hang on last one

This is what I get for not installing the recovery console
as a boot option. Oh wait, I CAN'T!
I should say, this is what I get for buying a 'puter with
XP pre-installed, with no install disk, just 3 "wipe-it-
all-out-and-copy-the-oem-image" BS disks. Anyway, I was
able to do this once before but this time the computer
hangs when I pop in the last disk.
So, should I just start backing up my stuff every two
minutes just in case Windows craps out, which it does so
well, so often, or does someone have a better suggestion
so's I can fix my system without losing anything?
XP Home SP1 - OEM don't forget!
Oh, the problem this time seems to involve iomdisk.sys, so
if anyone wants to speculate why that's a problem, too...

Let me clarify
My computer won't boot, if normal or last good config it gives me a BLACK screen. EMPTY. NOTHING. NO ERROR. All three Safe mode options stop when they get to a certain driver - iomdisk.sys. I've tried to install the RC with the 6 disk setup, but it just hangs on the last one. It just says "Please wait..." I've let it sit like that for more than an hour... but nothing happens.
