recovery consol

i cant get my dell laptop to boot up. some one in the thi ofrum said i should
use recovery consol to try and fix it. but what does that do and will i lose
all of my information if i use it. and what if that doesnt do anything than
what should i do?
 
Your best solution is to contact Dell technical support. They will explain
the options available to you and walk you through each one.
