No.

What happened to your Windows XP Professional CD?
Why do you think you need the recovery console?

a friend of ours gave u s a comuter w/ xp professional on it and after it
boots up it asks for a password next to adminisrator we dont know the

You could try asking the people you flogged, err, got the PC from for
the password?

Or you could look up something called ERD commander, or a number of
other products of the same type.

So you are wanting to wipe it and start over - not use the recovery console.

You need an original Windows XP Professional CD (assuming you have the
product key for it - could be on a sticker on that machine) to wipe your
computer. A recovery/restoration CD set could be used - if that is how the
manufacturer of said computer set things up.

I would ask your friend for the original media that came with the computer -
I would also ask for the password to get on it and/or hack the password long
enough to get the product key off it so when you install cleanly, you
definitely have the correct product key (assuming it came to you with
legitimate software installed.)

In any case - even if the computer came from my mother, I'd wipe it and
start fresh.

And if your friend did'nt pass on the installation cd's its not much good to
you, you would need to go out and buy winxp pro
