Exactly how was it changed? Was it changed from 'User Accounts' in the
Control Panel? If so, the only option I see relative to your problem is
'change my name'. Try changing the name back to the lost account name.
Has someone with administrator rights tried opening 'Windows Explorer' &
navigating to C:\Documents and Settings. Maybe it's still located somewhere
in that area.
Was your lost profile actually deleted by your son, in which case there are
3rd party apps available to recover it ( http://www.active-undelete.com/faq-user-account.htm ). Download the Demo and
try to locate it.
Make sure you are logged on to an account with administrator permissions.
Open Windows Explorer. Browse to the Documents and Settings folder. In there
you will see folders for each user on the computer. Browse to each user and
look in a folder called either My Documents or User's Documents where User
is the user name. You should find your documents in one of them.
This will locate your files but will not change things back to the way they
were. More info is needed to do that. Did your son change the name of an
existing account? Did he create a new account? Did he just logon as a
different existing account? There are many possibilities.
Active@ Undelete tool is truly powerful. It Imho posses the most
powerful data recovery algorithm I've used before. It really never
failed me before, nor ever corrupted restored info. That might really
help, just give it a chance.
