I have a computer that was in the process of installing SP1 when it
rebooted. Needless to say, it trys to load Windows and reboots. Is there a
way to rollback the update? IE, recover before SP1 update.

No, I've tried both "Safe Mode" and "Safe Mode w/networking" and it reboots.
I haven't tried command prompt yet.

Clean the system up by a repair reinstall. Set the BIOS to boot CD before
hard disk, then boot the XP CD, start Setup (do not take 'Repair' at this
stage), then after the license agreement take 'Repair Installation'. This
will retain your existing software installations and most settings. But this
will have removed all updates to put you back to a clean start.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I tried it but it didn't repair it. We
had to do a full installation. Luckily the data was backed up.
