Recovering Files After A Corupted Profile

I'm pretty sure i'm screwed here, but I thought it was worth asking. I was
using XP pro, i booted up and got the corupted profile message, I knew
enough then that the files I had in my documents were still saved on my
computer, i got into them and for some dumb reason I copied the my
documents folder to the my documents folder of the temp profile. At that
time I did not know that i was logged under a temp profile and that nothing
will be saved, so obviously my question is, is their anyway to recover my
orginal my documents folder. Right now i'm back on Windows 98 SE as
somebody told me I could get them that way, which wasn't the case. Luckly
their wasnt anything too important but I would appeciate any help.
