Hi, I recently tried to log on to my profile and got the 'corrupt
profile' error. XP created a temporary profile and i continued using
that since i was on a trip and was sure that i wasnt going to turn my
laptop off, for the data in my profile to disappear.dint get an
opportunity to recharge my laptop. so my battery drained and my laptop
shutdown (as it was sleeping). I turn it back on after i return from
the trip and the same 'corrupt profile' error pops up and a temporary
profile gets created like the first time. All my files that i saved on
'my documents' and 'desktop' on the 1st temporary profile are lost and
searching for them does not yield anything. I need the data since it
has very important documents that i need immediately. n e ideas as to
if and how i can retrieve these files, would be awesome. desperate to
get the files back and start working!

The files are pretty surely there, just not under your username.

Use Explorer to go to C:\Documents and Settings\. There you should see your
own username, plus the other two that were created for you. The missing
files will be under those usernames. Simply copy them over to your own
profile.
If not, try looking in All Users.

You need admin status to do this. If you have trouble, use Safe Mode and
the admin account there.
