Recovering disk space

BGardner

After applying a service pack or patch and letting the
system run for several weeks and I am satisfied with the
patch, what is the best way to recover the disk space used
for uninstalling the service pack or patch? I have
literally a hundred hidden directories taking up space for
the unistall of these service packs and patches.

If I delete them will I be leaving loose ends?

Directory example $NtUninstallKB282010$

Thanks

If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's
excellent website for instructions.

Note: Doug's program only removes the uninstall files and Hotfix entries
in the Add/Remove Programs listing. It does not remove the
actual updates.

Remove Hotfix Backup files and the Add/Remove Programs Registry entries
