how can i recover data from my hard drive when win2k wont
load.it keeps blue screening after start up,however,it
doesnt restart it just hangs...any help would be hughly
appreciated!!

a) Best option: From backup
b) Simplest option: Boot the machine with a Win98 boot disk
from www.bootdisk.com, then copy your data file by file to
floppy disk. You will see short file names only. If your disk
uses NTFS, you must also load ntfsdos.exe from
www.ntfsdos.com.
c) Most comprehensive option: Create a WinXP boot CD
using Bart's method: http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/#download
d) Asking a friend: Install your disk as a slave disk in someone
else's PC, then copy your files across.

You should also try and boot in Safe Mode, and/or in Last
Known Good Configuration. And when it's all finished, review
your backup strategy. Having important files in just one place
is asking for trouble.
