Recovering a replaced document

After working on a paper for hours, I mistakingly replaced the document I
wanted with the one I was on. That was a mistake. Now I cant seem to recover
my document. I did not change the file name, I just answered yes, or ok to
replace it as it was. Is it possible if I did not have a backup point?
Please help!!!

You *may* be able to recover it with file recovery software, but the
probability is that it is gone.

Thank you. I've been trying to recover it for the past 3 hours. Since I only
have some of tomorrow to fininsh it I'd better get some sleep.
