recovered word doc is encrypted, cannot read

i have recovered word doc using a recovery program from a crash pc but i
cannot read these docs, everytime i open them it comes up with the file
conversion window. any advise please.

Try 'Recover text from any document' under 'Files of Type' drop down on the
File > Open dialog. If that fails, you'll need to restore the file from the
last backup before the crash. If that fails (or you don't have one), drink
two margaritas, sacrifice a goat, then start again.
