Recovered pst - but folder has no content

Bazel

I had to rebuild my PC. Prior to doing so I saved my pst files. Once rebuilt
I attempted to open the pst file using:
File --> Open --> Outlook Data File

I then recieved an error message saying something was wrong with the file
and to run scanpst.exe. I ran scanpst and tried again. This time a "new"
personal folder appeared called something like Recovered Personal Folder.
When I expanded on the folder there was no content.

I have searched high and low and the only thing I am finding is to run the
scanpst tool. Maybe I am just trying to open this file wrong but this seems
to be what I have done in the past.

Any help would be appreciated this files has 6 years of email contacts in it!

What was the method used in saving your old pst's and to where did you save
them, and where did and how did you relocate them?
Lastly what size is the origonal saved pst?

Assuming you still have the file on your backup drive, copy it to My
Documents folder
Start Outlook, use File>Open>Data File........browse to this file
Is the data all there? check your view settings and that you are looking at
the new set of Personal Folders that will have appeared in your folder tree
view
