Recover Original Image After Editing

I screwed up! I had a photo in jpg format. I opened up the Paintbrush
application to modify the photo. I tried to save the modified photo as a
..bmp, but apparently I saved it over the original jpg file. Is there anyway
to recover the original jpg? I can still see the original jpg as the
thumbnail image, only when I double click on it, it comes up as the modified
image. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the answer is no.
Never a good idea to edit original photo files.
Instead, right click on the photo and click on Copy.
Hold the Ctrl key down and press the letter V. This copies (pastes) the
original back in your folder with the words "Copy of" in front of the file
name. You then edit "Copy of....."
