Thumbnail Cache not updating?

I run Adobe Photoshop Elements in XP and since the end of
July I have had a problem updating the thumbnails of
manipulated JPGs. I create a digital image which I copy
to a folder. I then go into that folder and retrieve the
file and edit it in Elements making a PSD file. I now have
an original JPG and a PSD file of the image. I then Save
the PSD file as a JPG (renamed) and I then have three
files. When I bring up the Thumbnails I should have an
original photo, a PSD file, and a JPG of the PSD file.
What I have is a second JPG file identical to the
original. When I click the second file I get the image
that was created in the PSD file. I'm really low-tech,
but it looks like the original Windows thumbnail is riding
along with the new JPG and not updating from the PSD
file. Does that make sense? Anyone having similar
problems with Thumbnails? I do not have this problem with
images I loaded to disk prior to the end of July.

Have you tried going to folder options, view tab, un-tick or tick "Do not cache
thumbnails"? Worth a try.
