recover files

I tried to burn a DVD with Studio 9 (program to create DVD's from avi's).
Unfortunatly I got a blue screen with the message
Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_or_egual.

After rebooting my computer it told me to run a check disk on my second
drive (Maxtor). So I did. Now I can't see the *.avi files (50GB) on this
drive with the windows explorer anymore (even though I can see all other
hidden files). So I checked with the command prompt to see if files are
there. And yes there they were.

Now they are hidden files in a hidden system folder the
found.000\dir0004.chk directory. Used dir /a to see. I tried to recover the
files with recover function from DOS but now the computer is telling me 'File
not found'. But it's there I can see it. Is there a windows/dos command to
get my files back? I don't use my maxtor drive now just to hold everything as
it is but I would like to have my files back.

I tried some more...and this worked http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/datrec.htm

If data is accidentally deleted or otherwise missing, one or more of the
options on this page may help recover the data.
It is important not to do anything with the computer until a decision is made.
Every boot and even every keystroke potentially permanently destroys the data.

1. Always check the Recycle Bin first.
If the file is there, right click the file then click Restore.

2. Search for deleted data:
Log in to a profile with Administrator access.
Open My Computer
Click Tools
Click Folder Options
Click View tab
Check "Show hidden files and folders"
Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files..."
Click OK and follow prompts.
Start/Search
Click "All files and folders"
Type the name of missing file in appropriate box.
Click search.
When finished, go back and set checks to original configuration.

I am so happy....
