Recover document after Automatic Restart?

Automatic Updates decided that my computer needed to be restarted
automatically while I had a paper open that hadn't been saved. When I came
back to the computer and opened up my paper, nothing was saved. Is there any
way to get this back? I'm guessing not, but at this point, I'm pretty
desperate.
 
Unfortunately, no. This deplorably cavalier behavior is why (a) you should
not, if you have a choice, give Automatic Update carte blanche to run
completely unattended and (b) you should never leave the computer with an
unsaved document open.
