Document Recovery

I was working on a document I hadn't saved yet and walked away to take a
call. Microsoft restarted because of an automatic update or some such BS and
when i opened Word there was no document recovery task plane, presumably
because I had not saved the file yet. Does anyone know if this information
can be retrieved?

Unfortunately, when this happens, Windows cavalierly shuts down your running
programs without saving anything (and telling Word that yes, it's okay, you
don't want to save). Which is why you should either set your updates to
semi-automatic (inform and ask) rather than full automatic, or if you have
to leave them on full auto, never leave the computer without pressing
Ctrl+S! If the computer (or Word) had actually crashed, you'd actually have
had an AutoRecovery backup file (provided you'd been working at least as
long as the interval you have set for AutoRecovery), but when Windows Update
takes over the reins, there's not much hope.
