Recover contacts after reinstall

D

David

Hello,
I just posted this, but I thought I would repost with a
reply-to email. Thanks.

I have reinstalled Office2000 on my new system w/xp. It
has a brand new empty contacts section in outlook. I have
both of my old hard drives with the old office installs
also on the machine. How can I get my original outlook
contacts to display in the new install? Thanks for any
suggestions.

If you have access to the previous .pst file (the file
that contains all of your Outlook information, not just
contacts), you can cut and paste the file to the new hard
drive. Delete the newly created .pst file that the new
installation of Outlook created. Open Outlook and when it
asks for the location of the .pst file, point it to the
old saved .pst file. (Note: You can paste the Outlook.pst
file anywhere on your drive - I use a second hard drive
for my .pst file).
