Where does outlook store my contacts?

Hi NG!

I had to "recover" my Win XP installation on my notebook, which means I
had to format my HDD.
Before that I made a backup copy of all my important files, including
the "Programmes" folder, where my Microsoft Office installation
resides.

After recovering my laptop and reinstalling MS Office 2003 I tried to
find my contacts in the backup, but I wasnt successful. Where does
outlook store my contacts? Where can I find the file that contains the
contacts or how can I move my contacts from my backup copy to my new
outlook installation!?

Thx&regards,
Peter

Peter,

What method did you use to backup your data? Did you use the Save My
Settings Tool? If you are not on an Exchange server then the contacts would
be stored in the .pst file. This filed would need to be "added" back into
your system and then in your Outlook profile.

if you didn't back up the pst file that normally resides in C:\Documents and
Settings\{your user name}\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
and you then formatted your HDD then they are GONE. Unless you have a
separate backup of course.....
