recordset is unupdatable at this time

I recently released the front end of my database for use, I have had several
users inputting records with no problem, however this morning one user
reported that the database will not allow him to input anything, in the
bottom ribbon it says "recordset is unupdatable at this time". He said he
tried again and an error pops up saying "unavailable and only in
administrator status"

Does anyone know what is causing this? The database is split and I am the
administrator, but the only thing I had open was the front end just like he
did...

" ... the front end ... " implies that there's a back-end. Have you already
confirmed that the user experiencing this problem has permissions to the
data in the back-end?

Yes, the user has modify and write permissions to the backend. The user is
no longer having the problem, but it would still be helpful to know what the
problem is in case it comes up again.

Thanks,

Sometimes it just works ... (and sometimes not).

Maybe one of the other newsgroup readers has insight on this, but I've seen
the network connection to the back-end drop out so many different ways/times
that I suggest, apologetically, to a user that gets this kind of message
that s/he may need to shut down the application and try again.

Thank you for your help. These are computers we are dealing with and I guess
we just have to expect that from time to time.

Thanks again!

I am having the same issue again with another user. I do have a copy of the
Front End of the database open, it is my master copy. I use the Auto FE
Updater. I have a master copy of the Front end that I make changes to, I
then save a ACCDE copy of the Front End which is automatically updated for
the users. I currently have this master copy open and it is therefore not
allowing my users to input records,

Any suggestions?

Sorry, no experience there. Perhaps another reader ...?
