Recording from external tape player

Has anyone successfully recorded music from an external
tape player to the computer or to a CD?
 
Very many people. You can learn how they did it by looking on the Internet.

With the proper cable plugged into the Microphone input
you can record ANY audio signal. There are some fine
third-party software suites out there that will let
you "massage" the audio before saving it.
