recording from DVD player to pc with XP Movie maker

Hello

The connection form my pc to my JVC video camera works fine and I can use
all features of Windows XP Movie maker, but when I connect the PC to my JVC
DVD recorder, I don't get any picture on the XP Movie maker screen, there is
communication between PC and the Movie maker, that is when I press pause,
stop and play on the XP movie maker, the DVD recorder responds, but I do't
get any picture.

I appreciate any help

Does your video card HAVE a TV Output that's compatible? Not
enough info here to work with; hard to guess.
