Recommended compact flash for bootable WXPe

Hello,

I'm looking for information about CFs that will boot WXPe without any
problems. My first choice was Sandisk, it seemed to be fast. But I heard
that is a quite "tricky" to get sw from vendor to make it fixed disk. You
also mentioned that Silicon Systems is good, but I couldn't find it in our
Country (Poland). Can you suggest other manufactures or models that will
make no trouble ? Industrial grade is rather required, since the system
should be 24x7X365 ready. What do you think about Lexar CFs ?

We're using Transcend 45X for our bootable device

It works correctly as a fixed disk (without any tricky third party app) but
I'm not sure of the industrial grade

I think MSystem make industrial grade CF

We spent some time looking at the Lexar's a couple of years ago. At that
time, they did not have any utility to mark them as non-removable. I'd check
that first before going any further. We've been using SanDisk Ultra II's,
and have shipped almost 1000 systems with them.

We played with all sorts of CF and SD (with a CF adapater), but in the
end we wound up choosing Transcend's DOM (Disk On Module). I cannot
say enough good things about these. You might be able to get a slight
speed boost by using one of the super-high-end CF cards instead, but
the DOM works out much better in the long run, and is only about the
same cost as an average CF card + CF-IDE adapter (256MB for about 45-50
bucks). They take up much less space in the case, and don't require
any airflow-restricting cable. They're low enough profile to fit in a
1U server case without any special adapters. They're
write-protectable, and show up as a fixed disk out of the box -- no
part of my system (BIOS, various OSes, etc) could ever tell that it
isn't a standard IDE hard disk.

We've had good luck with SimpleTech Compact Flash devices. At, least it was
good luck technically, logistically it was bad luck. Technically, they've
been the fastest, most reliable devices we've tested. Logistically, we
can't get them delivered on-time and in-quantity.
