recipient name in Windows Mail

Does Windows Mail not predict recipient's name when you type it into a
message like OE did? Can I switch that option on?

Also, (and I know others have raised this but can't see a definitive answer)
why can't I show my contacts as: Lastname, Firstname - like I used to in my
old OE addressbook? With a huge contact list it's essential to be able to
scroll to the surnames first then find the forename you want. Like a
telephone directory in other words.

My first 36 hours with Vista and I'd say the jury's still out.

Tools - Options - Send
[x] Automatically complete e-mail addresses when composing

However, the auto-complete just doesn't work correctly... and when it does,
it only
remembers the last 29 addresses you entered. Windows Mail has not been
upgraded for the past year, and probably never will be. You might want to
try the newer Windows Live Mail, which works better, including
auto-complete.

To sort your contacts....
In the Contacts folder:
Change the View to "Details".
Right-click on the "Name" column heading, click on "First Name", then click
on "Last Name"
Click on the "Last Name" heading to sort by that, or click on "First Name"
heading to sort by that.

In a Create Mail window:
Click on To:
Click on the "Name" column heading... it cycles thru 4 different sorts

In the Contact Properties:
click on the down arrow at the end of the Full Name box

Thanks Dave, been tinkering with it for a while. The automatically complete
e-mail addresses box was already ticked in Options - seems to make no
difference and when I try sorting my contacts some very strange things happen
to the order.. I don't know why MS couldn't leave things as they were in OE.
After all if it ain't broke... Thanks for the suggestion about Live Mail -
I'll look into it.
